...planting a tree & watching it grow

Treenex is all about offering you the opportunity to plant a living, breathing tree in a real forest. Whether you do it simply to have fun following its development online, or you do it to give someone a unique birthday gift or anniversary present, or you do it to promote your business through employee rewards or customer perks, the end result is the same – doing it benefits the environment. We often plant trees and give them away to our users, so make sure to check in from time to time.

Treenex is...

...being an environorm

Are you an environorm? First of all, don’t bother looking “environorm” up in the dictionary, we made it up. It’s simply a perfect one-word-tells-all description.

We environorms are just normal people who work, go to the movies, read books, chat online and have lives. We also have a healthy concern about environmental issues, but we rarely get around to doing much about them. Our weekly budget plans don’t have a “Save the Planet” line under groceries, but we’re always happy to drop a few coins in the “Save the Rainforest” jar down at the local store. We’re aware but lazy, concerned but passive. If most of that sounds familiar, you’re an environorm too.

Even if we don’t stand on street corners passing out pamphlets, we’re smart enough to be worried about the state of the climate. So we started Treenex, a great way for people to impact the environment in environorm style - low effort, low cost.

Treenex is...

...making good on hiStory

The year was 2007, a sunny September day…

…and a couple of friends were sitting in their office. (On that fateful day they were lowly legal and financial consultants. Little did they know they’d soon start on an exciting adventure that they would name Treenex).

Bored with tedious work, they went to stretch their legs under the old chestnut trees growing outside. Chestnuts lay scattered on the ground and crunched underfoot. Each of them was thinking the same thing as they grabbed a few: I should plant them.

The desire to do something, something beneficial, was overpowering. From that day on they became Treenexers (it was a bit more involved than that, but you get the picture).

Spring of 2008. The chestnuts have sprouted…

…and and the Treenexers are busy thinking of a way to get everybody to plant trees.

Autumn of 2008. Collecting seeds becomes a way of life.

The Treenexers get imaginative, the earth needs help. They plant a whole forest of trees in the shape of the letters SOS.

Christmas, 2008. Plenty of chestnuts to roast.

The Treenexers decide to plant some evergreen trees and give them away as Christmas gifts.

Spring of 2009, nearly two years after that fateful day the two Treenexers gathered a few chestnuts…

…and planted them.

Now they‘re planting new chestnut trees, honorary second generation saplings that originated from those very first chestnuts. They‘re also planting trees for other Treenexers, because by now there are quite a few of them.

And so began a new chapter in Treenex hiStory: the launch of the website. They called it Treenex, of course.
